Welcome

Among the last things Jesus told the disciples was, ”I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.” (John 16:12)

We can readily understand why He would say that they could not bear any further instruction. For example, they needed to have the Parable of the Sower explained to them (Matthew 13:18-23).

But the human race has grown up since the days of the Disciples, especially in the realm of Science and its laws The Lord must have foreseen that this would be the case, for in John 16, He went on to say; “However, when He, the Spirit of truth has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come” (John 16:13).

A few verses further on , the Lord gives us an idea of what form this new revelation would take; “These things I have spoken to you in figurative language; but the time is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figurative language, but I will tell you plainly about the Father” (verse 25).

From these verses we learn that the Lord definitely promised a further revelation, one that would guide us into “all truth,” and that this would not be in the form of figurative or parabolic language, but would be in plain language, presumably in doctrinal statements.

As the Lord always keeps His promises, we should not be surprised to learn that He has kept this promise. He has now told us the many things He could not tell the disciples of old.

The New Church

The New Church is an international organisation of people striving to improve their conscious relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, the one and only God Who rules heaven and earth.

We use the Bible and the Heavenly Doctrines revealed by the Lord and published by Emanuel Swedenborg to guide us in our lives, especially in our relationships. We freely share our love and understanding with each other, and try to give one another support in our spiritual journey.
